A Run-Down of Sustainable Dining at VT

Every year EC members grapple with the environmental conundrum of styrofoam to-go containers in dining halls. Although dozens of students have researched compostable/reusable containers, or incentive/disincentive programs, there have been several obstacles to each alternative.

The Farms and Fields blog has a complete review of why these options cannot work at VT….yet. Please keep in mind that behavioral change can be just as powerful as mandated change (reduce mentality of the to-go order vs. convert to compostable waste).
